The health care debate is not even entirely settled yet, and we know what is soon to follow, Climate Change Legislation. The proposed Cap and Trade legislation will be a hot topic this fall and winter, with promises from Harry Reid to pass legislation in 2009. Opposition to the bill is already beginning to surface, 3,500 people showed up in mass protest in Houston Today.
I have to admit that Ihave had some heart burn while waiting for what I knew was going to be an impending fall showdown. Here’s the thing about Cap and Trade as the legislators currently poise the potential solutions. If you want to be in favor of it that is fine, but you should know that the cost of everything will rise. Not just gasoline, but almost every consumer product will rise in cost. The effects on business will most likely also be felt. Surely there will be some job loss resulting from such legislation. Will there be job creation? Surely. You can bet that beauracracies will be created, and some new industries will spring up.
Climate Change Legislation truely is a tax. Anything that is manufactured, uses electricity, transported, or grown will have extra costs associated with it. If you think about the ramifications of that you can reach a conclusion that just about everything will cost more. It would be easier to think of things that wouldn’t cost more.
