Ongoing technology reduces attention span

With the increasing amount of ways to communicate with others such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and e-mailing, people are becoming addicted to high-tech use at home and portable devices when they’re away. So at any part of the day people can always tweet, text, check their e-mail without a break away from it. You can see people out in public constantly checking their phone, typing during conversations, using the convenience of free wifi in restaurants and fast food joints. But as this consistent use of technology gets higher, the attention span in people’s brain gets lower. Things like Tweeter’s text messaging of 140 characters or less and mobile phone texting makes it easier to type less and shorten words to give a fast reply every time. Then when it starts becoming a daily routine, people start having a hard time staying on one subject for a period of time. Even a brief moment of silence to relax becomes a long period of time and then soon they need something to preoccupy their mind.
