Costa Rican actress Maribel Guardia was born on May 29, 1959 (yes she is 50 years old!) in (of course) Costa Rica.
In 1978, she won the Miss Costa Rica pageant, and then went on to represent Costa Rica at the Miss World and Miss Universe (she won Miss Photogenic there) contests.
Maribel moved to Mexico in 1980, and she appeared in her first television show that same year, alongside Manuel “El Loco” Valdés.
She has also released several Norteña (also known as norteño or conjunto) music albums.
