Start your list of jobs hiring in the new year.  If you are looking for work or need a new job, start with your list.  The easiest place to start is someplace like a career center portal.  These places have 100′s to 1000′s of niche job boards all in one place.   Make your target list based on the jobs and companies you see advertising. 

Job Search Networking

The second best way to add to your list is through job search networking.  It is more than asking friends and family if they know someone is hiring.  The career portal site has some great tips on how to successfully job search network but you need your target list of jobs hiring first. 

Focused Search

Then you have a focused search and you’re chances for success are multiplied tremendously.  Don’t work the process backwards by calling on job ads.  Too many are already gone but there is a high probability that the company will hire again.  At least you know they have been hiring so the chances are they will hire again.  Put them on the target list.  Here are some more suggestions for ideas on places to look for jobs to put on your list.

Next you need to make that list work for you.  You need to take those targeted leads and develop contacts to get interviews and job offers?  Sounds tough but it is the best way.  Some have suggested that over 50% of all jobs never make it to the job board!
