The job of an EMT or emergency medical technician is not for everybody but it can be rewarding. As an EMT you are on the front lines of emergency medicine and are able to provide life saving care to all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. Still it is a job that requires a strong minded person who is able to see beyond tragedy and on to what the patient needs. You may respond to horrific car accidents, acts of intentional violence, home accidents, and calls from the elderly to the very young. In the job of an EMT a person must be prepared at all times to treat a variety of ailments and stabilize the patient until primary care is available.
