There are so many choices in car GPS navigators these days but the two main players in the game are TomTom and Garmin. I own both. I have found that there are some advantages to each one. For example, the TomTom frequently has better routing. The MapShare feature gives you more updated maps and ones that users have corrected for mistakes. Garmin allows you to download higher resolution topographic maps that contain the smallest of roads. The TomTom XLS has better predictive text. Start typing the name in and choices will appear. The Garmin Nuvi 255W makes you type in more of the town name before choices pop up. The Nuvi does not show all the POI’s on the screeen. On and on it goes. One will give you better directions in one area and the other will work better in another place. So, which is better, the TomTom or Garmin Nuvi? It’s almost a toss up.
