Many people believe that in order to create great photography one must travel to great locations. While this is true to a certain point, the reality is that photography close by your home can be just as rewarding, with a lot less expense involved. Often, those living in an urban setting will say they lack the opportunity for landscape photography. Granted, there might not be sweeping vistas and stunning mountains, but towns and cities are full of possibilities. Greenbelts, city parks, hike and bike trails, botanical gardens, large public grounds all offer the chance to go explore with the camera. Other possibilities include private gardens, landscaped sidewalks, and maybe even your neighbor’s back yard. For more on furthering your visual awareness, read Photography close by.
