The Murano glass vase is an example of the fine glassware from the city of Murano in Italy. Murano glassmakers were held in high regard for their craftsmanship, and by the 14th century, enjoyed many privileges of high society. However, to keep their skills centred in the Venetian Republic, they were forbidden to leave the country.
The repuatation of Murano for glassmaking has survived and thrives in the present day.
