Taking Care of a Morso Wood Stove

So, you are now a proud owner of a brand new morso wood stove and want to know how best to take care of it. Here are a few tips on taking care of your morso wood stove.

As with most new wood burning stoves, taking proper care for the first few uses can pay dividends in keeping your morso stove in top conditions. The first few fires you will need to use just small fires, no roaring furnaces to allow the paint to temper. After this larger warmer fires can be used.

There are no set formula to getting the right heat output for your home from your morso wood stove. There are many factors which determine the heat output, such as the wood being burned, air flow settings, fire lighting methods, the draught from the chimney, as well as the climate the morso wood stove is located in.

A Morso stove will burn almost any type of wood fuel, however, you should try not to use wet or green wood as this does not give out good heat. Your wood should ideally be stored under cover but open to the air for at least 1 to 2 years, and preferably 2 years to allow it to properly season. Avoid drift wood as this wood has a high salt content which is not good for your morso wood stove and chimney.
