I use a squirrel hair brush to gently wipe off the dust from my LCD monitor, every part of it. Then I wipe the screen with a slightly damp optical cloth. I do not apply any pressure at all on the surface of the screen, it’s just a gentle swipe in long movements such that each stroke spans the entire screen from left to right. It is best not to re-trace each stroke but to stick only to one direction, either from left to right or from right to left.
Once the screen is done the same cloth can be now used to gently wipe the body of the monitor. If there are any stubborn marks on the surface, just put a drop of eau de cologne on to the already damp optical cloth and dab that area and quickly wipe it off. Do not leave the eau de cologne to dry on the surface. If you leave it to dry, it could very well leave behind a stain.
Do not use any chemicals or alcohol based liquids to clean your monitor either. Once you’ve finished cleaning, rinse the optical cloth and dry it in a dust free area for the next use. This way you can keep your LCD monitor looking new for a long period of time.
