July 7th marks Tanabata, the star festival in Japan. It’s one of five special festivals including Boys’ Day and Girls’ Day. There is a Japanese folktale about two young lovers who are seperated by the milky way and can only have the chance to meet once a year, if the weather is clear. People also put up a kind of bamboo tree and hang colorful decorations and make wishes. You can read more about this special day.
