The origin of numerological concepts is not clear with any definite details and many numerologists believe that the Babylon and the Egypt are the earliest places of numerology.  There is also evidence for the usage of the numerology thousands of years ago in Rome, China, Japan, and Greece.  However, the recognition for the growth of the modern numerology is given to the great Greek philosopher Pythagoras, who born in Greece in 590 BC.  Availability of Written evidence for early numerology that was taught in the early numerological school of the era is very little.

Numerology is believed to be one of the oldest forms of the metaphysical interpretation and communication and numbers are used in this method.  The numbers are described as the language intelligence within themselves and in olden days, people used markings, numbers and scribing methods to communicate, trade, and exchange their ideas.  The four perfect numbers 6, 28, 496, and 8128 is being used in this practice from the early period, and there is no evidence for these discoveries.  Throughout the ages, numerology has always attracted numerous people with its traditional concept, precipitation, excitement, and mystical fusion.

Every numerologist believes that each number has certain power or vibration that cannot be expressed by the symbol or figure.  Pythagoras and Cornelius Agrippa are the great philosophers, who have provided much to the numerological readings.  According to their findings, all objects in this universe are assigned a number and all the values of the tangible or intangible body have a definite meaning.  Most modern numerologists follow this principle with their own modification.  For example, the birth date of an individual is combined in some method to show their personal traits and strength.  Also, birth date is combined and examined by means of simple mathematical calculation, then decrypted to forecast the future events of a person.

Dr. Julia Steton named the science of names and numbers as numerology.  Today, there are three different forms of numerology is used: the Chaldean, the Kabbalah, and the Pythagorean.  Each version follows different method of calculation and gives numerous predictions about the future events of an individual.  It is believed that the Chaldean system is the original practice, in which a number is assigned to each alphabet.  In Chaldean numerology, compound numbers are used and number 9 is believed as the holy number, therefore, it is kept separated from other numbers.  An individual can use any system to predict future using numbers, as it will surely reveal the insight of one’s life.
