As more and more companies start new modern projects and establish their own plants in the Russian Federation, this report provides information about the assembly and localization of foreign cars in Russia, including details of market participants and domestic suppliers. The special appendix contains a list of global component suppliers for a range of models, which are assembled or are planned to be assembled in Russia.
Background to this Research
The market share of foreign cars in local production is growing every year. This is a result of the Russian market potential and legislation. Despite the unstable economic situation in Russia, companies, which have entered into agreements concerning «industrial assembly», have no plans to cancel intentions to establish local production.
In June 2009, for example, Nissan launched a Russian plant, which produced 2,400 cars during the second half of that year. The only company which cancelled its Russian project was Suzuki, Japan.
