Do My Own Home Improvement?

You may do better than anybody else

I wouldn’t be surprised if your home wasn’t the most valuable single asset you have.  Quite honestly, the way you use your home, the things you value, your most cherished memories are very likely centered around your home; they are all a key part of who you are, your family, your friends. You know better what you want from life, for life, and are best equipped to convey those ideas to those who may best help you achieve your goals.

Plain old folks have been providing a roof over their heads since they first stood up and ventured out of the cave.  Before the recent bust in housing and other economic woes, Americans were spending upwards of a quarter of a trillion dollars per year on home improvements. Today, with the markets being as they are, there could well be that much being spent by home improvement do-it-yourselfers.

Doing your own home makeover could well be the best opportunity you will ever have to fully express who you are, and save a bundle of money in the process.

You will however probably need a little help.  You can start by looking at the local craftsmen who may be listed as “handyman” in your local fliers.  Check out the bulletin boards, the Craig’s Lists, and you might even take a look at my link on the bottom of this page. We have an affiliation with hundreds of craftsmen, we have already screened and can certify they are “qualified.”

Be bold and step on into your new role of designer/architect/supervisor of all that will become beautiful. This won’t be because you can’t afford to hire a general contractor.  Remember whatever you are able to save in completing the process will be that much more you can spend on the final results; better lighting, better flooring, better countertops. A more personal home makeover, one that your image will be on every part of.

The writer has over 50 years of composite experiences building, teaching, and designing home improvements. He’ll show you some “local help” if you are interested.
