Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-L32S1 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
I have been a television engineer since 1973 and first “cut my teeth” on servicing televisions on what today would be seen as almost “Antiques!” - Good old valve sets in real wooden boxes that made the street lights dim visibly, (well almost!), when you turned them on and then you had to wait patiently for them to warm up – if they ever did!
My how things have changed!
In all my years of servicing TV’s there have always been certain makes that stood head and shoulders above the crowd for value for money, design and quality, makes that you knew that you could trust to do the job that they were built for, reliably and consistently. Premiere amongst these companies is Panasonic, a company I have dealt with for more years than I care to remember as it reminds me I’m getting on a bit!
In the 70’s and 80’s renting a TV was “the thing” to do, sets were not as reliable then as they are now and very few people actually bought their television set, choosing to rent them for the peace of mind that they would not have to face any unexpected servicing bills when it broke down. Certainly In the UK at this time I would estimate that around 90% of people chose to rent their set. I worked for a company then that would only use Panasonic for their rental sets as they knew that the sheer reliability of these TV’s was a given and of course the less they went wrong the more money the company would make from their rentals.
