As a single man, I’ve tested the dating market in almost every arena imaginable.  I’ve experienced the thrill of meeting women in the night scene of bars and nightclubs, girls who like to party, get drunk, hook up, and potentially even sleep with you right away.  I thoroughly enjoy meeting a girl in a daytime setting, such as the time I picked up a cute college girl who worked behind the yogurt store counter, who two days later I had the pleasure and fortune of sleeping with.  And of course, every single man should know that a girl on vacation, maybe with a sexy foreign accent, seeking thrill and adventure, might be your easiest and most exciting conquest of all.

But in an effort to squeeze the most out of our lack of spare time, many of us have also turned to the online dating scene.  Many of my friend’s have asked me advice on how to meet women online.  Dating online can be fruitful, but it can also be as dry as the Sahara desert.   Indeed the results can vary greatly, but if you pinpoint your aim with an assassin’s precision you might be setting yourself up for lots of exciting trysts with cyber sex kittens.  With that in mind, you must develop your own methodology for success.

First off, you have to determine what it is you’re after?  Sex? Relationship?  Both?…  First off, be honest with yourself, if you’re just looking to get laid then you have prepare yourself accordingly.  But, if you truly would like something more out of it, be ready for a longer, but perhaps more fulfilling process.  The number of married couples is increasing at a staggering rate, so don’t discount the potential.  Of course, the number of couples getting together for hot, lustful casual sex is also on the rise, lucky for us!

So, once you’ve determined this, start hunting!  Generally, I tend to go for the more casual thing from online dating, I find it more fun.  So, my perspective will be a little more well-suited for like-minded individuals who are after casual affairs.  An important component to the online dating scene are the numbers.  Like anything else in life, you should always try to stack the numbers in your favor.

Hence, the first thing you might want to do in choosing a site that you want to join is do research on their stats and what kind of male-to-female ratio prevails on each.  In my experience, many of the mainstream sites, match.com and lavalife.com to name a few, favor women, as there are tons more men on those sites.  Of course, since there is a large pool, you still have chances in sites like these.  But, beware that a hot girl gets literally THOUSANDS of correspondences from men on these sites, you are competing against tons of other guys!

Counter intuitive as it seems, a site like eHarmony.com, which i have never tried, actually has a slightly higher following of women than men.  It seems built for serious relationship seekers, but seems to favor men quite a bit.  The site, I hear, has a peculiar system for matching couples, but nonetheless the sole fact that numbers favor men is reason enough to give it a try.  On top of that, I have heard from more than one single male friend that they easily matched up with and met partners through eHarmony.

Which brings us to another point.  If thousands of men are seeking a single attractive girl, aside from having her pick of the litter, don’t you think she’s going to take her time flirting with dozens of men online before deciding to meet one?  You bet she is, and that is very bad news for us.  I’ve had it take as long as 2 months on match.com to finally get a date with a girl, only to discover that she looked half as good as the three-year-old photos she’d posted!  So, don’t forget that your time is valuable, and when the balance of power is in favor of the girl choosing, time will not be your friend.

I’ve had my highest level of success thinking a bit out-of-the box.  For instance, when Myspace first emerged onto the scene, it had a much more natural feel to it and I met several women with whom I had brief, yet pleasurable, interludes.  Unfortunately, I don’t see myspace the same way I once did, but it used to not be much more than adding a girl as a friend, and then a little joke, or “why have you moved here from Bulgaria?” type of comment to break the ice.

Perhaps my little secret sauce, believe it or not, for how to meet women online who are “ready”, so to speak, and very quick to respond and date is through craigslist.org.  No, I’m not talking about the erotic section.  My little secret formula to quick success on craigslist has been the following: post ad for yourself on “dating” or “casual encounters” sections, post clear, flattering recent photos, specify what you’re looking for (i.e. Tasty guy looking for yummy Latina), have a fun little description of yourself conveying yourself as confident and sexy, and wait to see what takers come!  Now, I’m not going to say I have met 9′s and 10′s in this manner, but when you’re horny and want to meet someone sooner than later this can be a real effective method.  Also, I’d post the ad in the early evening, my favorite day being Sunday.  That’s when all the girls who didn’t meet men on the weekend are feeling lonely, and even horny!
