Sylvania NB530SLX – Great Basic Blu-Ray Player
Simple… if you want a great Bluray player at a great price, the Sylvania NB530slx it. No kidding. The only feature it doesn’t have is an Internet connection. At this low price, who cares?
I’ve had the Sylvania NB530SLX for a couple of weeks now and I’m very happy with it. It seems to load faster than some machines and it is easy to hook up and use. It has an easy to use menu that can have you watching your favorite Bluray movies in no time.

It does have some drawbacks. One nitpick is that when you’ve the display set to show the time left in a chapter/disc, versus the time elapsed, the front display would not show| a minus in front to let you know that, (though it does display the amount of time left). Higher priced machines usually do that. It’s minor, I know, but it’s one thing I wish it had.
I bought the NB530slx at Amazon and I am sure glad I did! It arrived faster than I expected, and I had it linked to my HDTV in about five seconds using HDMI. Put in a standard DVD only received from from Netflix, “The Final Destination,” and it played perfectly with an awesome picture.

I have to admit, I had been skeptical in regards to the change upscaling may make…now I am a believer! Cannot wait to check out a Blu-Ray disc now. The contrast is amazing. The unit itself is modern looking and very unobtrusive; also, it has no annoying light or clock that stays on when the unit is off.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the NB530slx and I’m looking forward to many enjoyable viewing hours!
