No matter how much I will tell you about how impressed I am with this little receiver, I will not be telling you enough.  From the very first set-up, using the Audyssey Technologies room tuning system, I was thrilled.  The Audyssey system allows you to not worry about speaker placement as much, it allows the Onkyo to correct itself to your room – great stuff!!!

The receiver itself has shown to have ample power for every situation – from DVD Blu-ray movies to reality tv and all the games in between, it distributes sound with great control and nuances that you’d only expect from much higher cost equipment.  The amplifiers’ 90w of power gets plenty loud for my living room (despite its 18×20 size), and it does so without the ‘hum’ other, cheaper-build, amplifiers may throw at you.  Just one downside to this product - I don’t really love the included remote, but I use a Logitech Harmony One (see my other reveiw) and all things are happy.

I have two subwoofers hooked into this receiver as well as the prerequisite 7 in-wall speakers…even the sound from a regular old CD is just plain nice.  The display on the front of the SR607 is readily viewable from across the room, the unit is really well-conceived.  Wow, there’s so much more…if you are looking for a technologically correct receiver, something that has ALL of the updates (HDMI 1.3, for example), not too expensive and will provide years of great sound, look no further than the Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver.
