Canon PowerShot A495 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 3.3x Optical Zoom and 2.5-Inch LCD (Blue)
Power on the cheap
Canon’s new budget shooter features some creative elements tomake picture taking a more enjoyable experience for first timers. The Super Vivid and Poster Effect mode are two new elements introduced. Other useful features include a Face Self-Timer which waits for the photographer to enter the picture, and a low-light mode for non-flash moments, although the file size will be limited to 2MB.
Utilising two AA batteries, the PowerShot A495 also makes a convenient travel camera as well. It is a suprisingly decent shooter, with fairly accurate metering, good auto-mode selection and a fairly quick autofocus. Images are excellent for ISO 200 and below.
Downside is it records images pretty slowly, but given the price point it is acceptable.
The A495 PowerShot is great in the sense it cut costs in the right places and bumps the performance in the places that matter.
