KitchenAid is a home appliance brand now owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Corporation to give restaurants a countertop alternative to their industrial sized mixers. The first model weighed in at 69 lbs. Each unit is still assembled by hand in Greenville, Ohio. The mixer is one of the only consumer appliances trademarked specifically for its unique shape.
The Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment with 325 watts of
mixing power making child’s play of kneading dough, whipping cream, and creaming butter. The child in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough.
There are three attachments supplied a wire whip for the light stuff like mayonnaise, egg whites, the more air infused type creations; there is a dough hook kneading and mixing doughs and a flat beater for batter, meat loaf and all other textures in between.
Solidly made these three attach and are secured to beater shaft with a simple twist action. A clever idea is the pouring shield which enables you to pour ingredients in to the mixer at just the right spot.
The 5 quart stainless steel polished bowl locks tight to the base and is big enough to handle the largest of heavy mixture batches. The bowl has an ergonomically designed handle which fits to your hand and makes lifting the
bowl very comfortable.
In contrast to a lot of stand mixers the bowl does not rotate as this mixer uses a contra rotating action where the beater rotates clockwise while the shaft rotates counter clockwise. This unique action creates a thorough blend of ingredients.
There are many optional accessories available which extend the versality of this mixer from citrus juicer to pasta roller, it can end up coping with just about any food preparation task in the kitchen.
Your biggest problem is going to be deciding which color you want it in. It’s available in 33 different colors and finishes. Match your decor? No problem.
