Cotton Candy Machine

Bring back memories with a Cotton Candy Machine!

Do you remember when you went to the state or county fair and ate that mountain of delicious cotton candy? Well, now you can easily make your own at home with an inexpensive candy machine for that special treat for the kids (or yourself!)

Cotton candy is a European invention (actually in the uk they call it candy floss) invented centuries ago.  Of course at that time there were no machines – as you see some chefs doing today – you just melt sugar in a pan and pull out strings of sugar which you twirl around another spoon.  The melted sugar begins to solidify almost immediately but remains pliable for a short time so you can make up a bunch of sugar strings before it hardens completely.

With the invention of the electric motor cotton candy was easy to make with no chance of scalding with hot melted sugar on your skin and as if by magic the cotton candy appears as the motor spins – you just add sugar.

Inside the central part of the cotton candy machine is a heating element which melts the sugar, which is then thrown out because of the spinning action, through fine mesh holes creating the cotton candy. The fine mesh results in extremely fine strands of sugar hence the name cotton.

From there its just that melt in the mouth experience after the cotton candy machine has done its work!
