How to Think Like a Genius–Like Da Vinci

Even if you are   a genius, you can use the same strategies as Aristotle and Einstein used to control the creative power of your mind and better manage your future.”The following eight strategies urge you to think productively, rather than “reproductively ” as a method of solving problems.

Throughout history, these strategies are common to the thinking styles of creative geniuses in science, art and industry.”

  • Look at problems in many different ways, and find new perspectives that no one has taken (or someone has not made public!)
  • Leonardo da Vinci believed that to discover the structure of a problem, he had to start by learning how to restructure it in many different ways. The first looked at how a problem was very limited. Often the problem itself is reconstructed and becomes just a new one.
  1. Observe.
  2. When Einstein thought about a problem, he always found it necessary to make the issue of so many different ways as possible, even with the use of diagrams.
  3. Solutions were envisioned and he believed that words and numbers, as such, did not play a significant role in his thinking process.
  4. Produce! A distinguishing characteristic of genius is productivity.
  5. 1093 Thomas Edison patents are registered. To ensure high productivity, quotas established ideas for himself and his assistants .. In a study of 2,036 scientists throughout history, Dean Keith Simonton of the University of California at Davis, found that most of the most respected scientists had produced not only great works, but also many “bad” works. Not afraid to fail or to produce mediocre works to achieve excellence.
  6. Make new combinations. Combine and recombine ideas, images and thoughts in different ways, no matter how incongruent or unusual they are.
  7. The laws of inheritance which is based on the modern science of genetics, are the work of the Austrian monk Gregor Mendel, who combined mathematics and biology to create a newscience.
  8. Relate, make connections between different subjects.
  9. Da Vinci related to the sound of a bell with a stone falling into water. This enabled him to establish “connection” that sound travels through waves.
  10. Samuel Morse invented relay stations for telegraphic signals when observed relay stations forhorses.
  11. Think in opposites.
  12. Physicist Niels Bohr believed that if one holds the opposites together, then stopped thinking, our mind moves to a new level of knowledge. This allowed him to imagine light as both particle and a wave, leading to his conception of the principle of complementarity. Suspending thought (logic) may allow your mind to create a new concept.
  13. Think metaphorically.
  14. Aristotle considered metaphor was a manifestation of genius, and believed that the individual who possessed the ability to perceive similarities between two separate areas of reality and relate together, was a person endowed with a peculiar talent.
  15. Be prepared to take advantage of the opportunity (when it is present) ..

Whenever we try to do something and fail, we end up doing something else. This is the first “principle of creative accident.” Failure can be productive provided they do not consider it as an unproductive result. Instead: analyze the process, its parts and how you can change to achieve other results. No wonder “Why have I failed?” But rather “What have I done?”.
