When you’re shopping for a firewood rack, many things are important to look for, but the two most important items are quality of construction and the size of the rack itself.  A firewood rack that is well designed will last you for years to come — maybe even decades.  A lot of firewood racks are made of wood, but I would recommend getting a rack made out of steel.  You’re investing a fair amount of money into a rack ($100-300) and you want it to last for as long as possible, so why not get the best possible construction?

The size of the firewood storage rack is based on personal preference, how much wood you intend to store at home, and how much you want to spend.  You can hold an entire cord of firewood (128 cubic feet) in a 16′ firewood rack.  This is an immense amount of wood, and probably too much for most people.  A more realistic option is a 4′ or 8′ rack, which holds a 1/4 and a 1/2 cord of firewood respectively.
