But could suffer lack of demand: BMI expects that the relative cheapness and ubiquity of existing 2G, 2.5G, and 2.75G services will dampen Russian’s initial interest in the more expensive 3G offerings, which will likely be launched with a limited range of features and services. Ukraine could suffer a similar fate.

What does the future hold: With a number of 3G tenders expected in the foreseeable future, there remain fresh opportunities for operators, service providers, and content generators. Similarly, with many of the region’s 3G networks still at the start of their lives, equipment suppliers can expect to benefit from continued demand for infrastructure.
