Merchant City Festival Music Review: Free Musical Heaven for Four Fun Filled Days

Free music comes our way during Merchant City Festival, 22 to 25 July 2010. Making use of some of Merchant City’s best venues, as well as outdoor stages that appear as if by magic beside Brutti Ma Buoni and Blackfriars, all sorts of soaring sounds and funky beats fill the air.

Glasgow Merchant City Festival Music

City Halls opens its doors for some classical tunes. Expect fiddles, harps and maybe even some opera gracing the stage here. Elsewhere, local bands and DJs bring audiences live jazz, some funk, rock’n’roll and even some unsigned Scottish musical talents, courtesy of Maggie May.

One of the nicest things about Merchant City Festival is that so much of it takes place outdoors.  So grab a seat (or stand and chat) with a drink, in the sun, and absorb the friendly and energetic vibe.

With several Merchant City roads closed to traffic during the festival, life in this part of the city could hardly be sweeter…;-)

In the true Merchant City Festival spirit, all this free music adds to one of the most special weekends in Glasgow’s calender.
