Online College Faculty Positions are the Next Best Step in Your Teaching Career

The daily grind for traditional college instructors today is pretty rough since the faculty budgets at physical colleges and universities are being cut to the bone. Given this dire situation a person with a graduate degree, a Ph.D. or a master’s degree, might wonder what to do next when it comes to making a living by teaching college students. The answer is that the next best step in your teaching career is to acquire a dozen or so online college faculty positions and start earning a decent living as an online adjunct instructor.  Online bachelor degree programs and online master’s degree programs are extremely popular with non-traditional college students because they already have an overloaded personal and professional schedule filled with family obligations and employment commitments.

The for-profit colleges that award a bachelors online degree and an accredited online master degree recognized this trend early and their online college classrooms are filled to bursting as a result of this foresight. Happily, traditional colleges and universities and realizing the potential of offering accredited online college degree programs to their students now, and the benefit this brings to college teachers is a plethora of online adjunct faculty positions from which to choose.

Of course, the more online adjunct professor positions held over a year’s time the money income from those online adjunct jobs. It is not unreasonable to expect to earn fifty thousand dollars a calendar year from a variety of online universities. It would be safe to assume that earning a full time income from online teaching would require eight to twelve online faculty positions, but this many online college classes are possible to obtain with a regimented search strategy and the right perspective as to how college teaching has changed in the last few years.

Soon, college administrators began to understand they had to have a different delivery system for the college instruction and they looked to the distance education technology employed so successfully by the for-profit colleges and universities. As more and more accredited online college degree programs appear on the Internet, the more online adjunct will be needed to teach the online college classes in those online degree programs. An individual with an earned graduate degree will be able to find ample online college faculty positions just by visiting the websites of the college and universities, navigating to the faculty application portal and submitting their academic credentials for online adjunct employment.
