Captain America has the longest (but maybe not the best) history in Marvel Comics movies.
Cap was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 in 1941.
Captain America (1944)
The character started out with a bang (for back then) in 1944 in the Captain America serial.
In the serial, Cap wasn’t Steve Rogers, he was District Attorney Grant Gardner.
He didn’t carry his trademark indestructible shield.
There was no Bucky.
The costume was “based” on Cap’s.
So it was pretty much Captain America in name only.
