Cooler Than Me Video MTV – Mike Posner thinks he’s “cooler than you”… sorta. The hip-hop newcomer will be premiering his video for his first single “Cooler Than Me” on MTV2 and MTV.com on May 26. Posner’s video will run exclusively on MTV.com for 24 hours and be featured on MTV2, MTVU and MTV Hits. Posner is also an MTVU Ahead of the Curve featured artist. “Cooler Than Me” the first single off Posner’s upcoming debut album, is currently available on iTunes.
Directed by Jason Beattie, and shot earlier this month in Los Angeles, the video is a high energy, fast-paced video full of subtle effects and intense color work.
Posner, who graduated from Duke University earlier this month, will be performing at Bonnaroo in June, his headlining show at the Key Club in Los Angeles on June 15 has sold out, and he hits the road all summer long for the Warped Tour.
Recent college graduate Mike Posner spent as much time writing hooks as hitting the books in his Duke University dorm room. Now, thanks to a song he crafted two years ago, he’s crowding in on Katy Perry and Usher at the top of the pop charts.

Cooler Than Me— his electro-pop slap at haughty hotties who “never say ‘hey’ or remember my name” — has raised anticipation for the Aug. 10 release of his debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, and a two-month headlining club tour, which starts Sept. 14 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. The song, which has sold more than 1.1 million downloads, ranks No. 6 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and No. 4 on USA TODAY’s top 40 airplay chart.
“The song was inspired by a girl I went to Duke with, but she doesn’t deserve any notoriety,” says Posner, 22, who is already on the road with the Vans Warped Tour. “There are girls like that everywhere, and that’s why people like the song.”
In the music video, Posner starts out at a show singing some of his songs before an enthusiastic audience. After the show he goes driving with his friends, who then drop him off at the Roosevelt Hotel on Los Angeles’ Hollywood Blvd. After a short ride in an elevator, Posner enters a hotel suite, where he joins a party already in progress. Throughout the course of the video, Posner tries on different styles of sunglasses including Oakley Razorblades, 3-D sunglasses, and X-Ray sunglasses. While he is trying each pair on, it evokes a different perception of the party currently going on in the apartment. In the end, he is seen leaving the hotel that morning with his original sunglasses back on. The video features cameos by Louie Vito, The Dingo, Chelsea Chanel “CC” Dudley and Christopher Pfaff from Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.
