Eyelet curtains are always a great gift to give her when she is moving into a new place. Usually young adults will be barely able to afford their new apartment much less decorative window curtains. Give your daughter a shopping spree just for her windows and set a budget for the gift. Usually a small one bedroom apartment will have about three windows and this could run about forty to fifty dollars per window treatment include some single or double curtain rods. Even just going down to the local Wal-Mart, or Target with her, and just have a leisurely shopping time for mom and daughter will be fun, and make her new place take on a little character.
A new young adult’s apartment will generally have hand me down furniture for their living and dining room, unless they have been saving for their time to move out, or you foot the entire bill. So choosing some nice neutral drapes will work well in a eclectic array of furniture. Normally brown curtains will do well, finding some with a chocolate brown back ground with wide taupe vertical stripes will make a fashion splash just like someone from HGTV came in and did a makeover for her.
The use of double curtain rods, and a second layer of sheer curtains will add a higher level curtain style while, allow the light during the day to flow into the apartment while keeping the interior private. Be sure and get her some matching curtain hardware for holdbacks, and maybe some ornate finials to put on the ends of the curtain rod. This will add some inner curb appeal that she will be thankful and proud of in her new home. Try getting her to match the shower curtain to the rest of the drapery to carry a single theme through out the whole place, as this will make it appear larger.
