We all get the feeling at one time or another that our home isn’t big enough for our needs. Bedrooms seem cramped, gatherings and parties leave your guests feeling a little claustrophobic and things feel all around a little too limited.
What you need is an expanded living space. Most of our houses contain space that isn’t being used optimally and they can be adapted to fit in more space. Unused areas of your house, such as your attic or basement in some cases, can be converted into extra rooms. Your porch can even be turned into a new room with an enclosure. If you’ve got a small room you can take out a wall and join two rooms to make one larger one. Or, if you’ve got a very large room you can put up partitions to create new rooms.
There are many ways you can make more room using these methods. All walls are constructed and taken down in a very similar manner. Doors and windows are, unless you’re a real do-it-yourself’er, pre-built and take minimal installation time. Even ceilings are easier to put in these days with individuals who aren’t experienced in home improvements.
Sometimes even basic carpentry isn’t even required when using pre-fabricated units if used in imaginative ways. For example, ready-made shelves and cabinets can be turned into a wall of sorts when used in a large space while still providing storage. Sliding and folding doors can be a partition to turn one room into two.
Pre-fabricated supplies are widely available in this day and age at every building supply store. Whether it’s for a simple home-expanding project or more in-depth home modifications, building supply stores tend to have it all. All it takes a little creativity and imagination to create and modify your room spaces to fit your needs without going into complicated fabrications.
