Vincent Jackson Trade Rumors of The Chargers

Vincent Jackson trade rumors have been discussed as The Chargers plan to place Jackson on the roster exemption list at midnight eastern Friday if he doesn’t report. There were no indications he will show up. As you know, The Seahawks were given permission to talk to the agents for unsigned Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson, but those initial talks didn’t do anything to resolve Jackson’s current holdout.

Jackson’s agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, did not return messages from The AP Friday night. Neither did Chargers general manager A.J. Smith nor Coach Norv Turner. The Seahawks were just exploring the financial cost of acquiring Jackson. The wideout is asking for a five-year contract worth $50 million with $30 million guaranteed, according to sources. Now that trade rumors are running rampant concerning Vincent Jackson, many people are wondering where he will go.

However, before we even consider the future of Vincent Jackson, it is important to look at how this potential trade will impact the San Diego Chargers. San Diego may be feeling pressure to get something for Jackson while they can. The belief is that he will not report at all this season and the Chargers are unwilling to meet his long-term contract request worth $9 million per season.

The San Diego Chargers are coming off an impressive win over the Chicago Bears last Saturday, but as it goes, anything can happen on any given Sunday, or in this case, any given Saturday. The Chargers are set to take on “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys. Additionally, the game has all the makings of a bitter rematch from San Diego’s win at Texas Stadium last year. Chargers G.M. A.J. Smith declined comment on the situation, but Seattle has confirmed they have held contract discussions with Jackson’s agents.

With any NFL team, it’s hard to know where the B.S. stops and the truth begins.  In San Diego, there’s plenty of B.S. coming from the man known as A.J.  But the Chargers’ General Manager also appears ready to follow through on the protracted poker hand that he has been playing with left tackle Marcus McNeill and receiver Vincent Jackson. As to Jackson specifically, it appears that the Chargers plan to squat on him indefinitely. Vincent Jackson trade rumors in a mailbag column for the San Diego Union-Tribune, Kevin Acee suggests that McNeill could eventually get a long term deal.  Not so for Jackson.
