I am an American

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. I stand up straight and put my hand over my heart when ever I hear the National Anthem. I pray and trust in God to guide me. I believe in the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights as written. I can work hard, save up and start my own business or buy my own home. I can raise my children in the way I would have them go. And I can share what I have with others because I want to. I can speak up when I see an injustice with out persecution. I believe in the institution of family that it keeps me grounded. I will join together with my fellow Americans in a time of crisis. And I risk and even give my life in battle to keep America free. I am an American.

The rest of the world has always looked to me and up to me for their needs and aspirations. I give them comfort and food. I give them a place to lay their heads. I give them hope and a place to build their own dreams away from tyranny and oppression. I cause their hearts to swell with pride, gratitude and compassion for my great country and her people. I am an American.

I never underestimate my enemies. I keep my friends close and my enemies closer. I never sit around waiting for things to happen. I get the job done. I leave my enemies wondering “what the hell happened”. When I want to see where the dark shadows in the world are, I turn on the lights. I know “tolerance” is the beginning of the end of a Republic. I will stifle this “tolerance” for the sake of the morality and principles my Republic was founded on. I don’t depend on the government. The government depends on me. I am an American.

I teach my children to be brave and strong and educated. I respect my elders for their wisdom and experience. I build, manufacture, and grow food and crops for myself and the world. I am productive. I have compassion and care for the sick and the dying at home and from around the world. I sent the first man to the moon. I discovered stars and other galaxies far from my own. I honor my Military, Fireman, Law Enforcement, Emergency Responders, and all Moms. I know they have my back. I want to keep America the strong, free and great country she is. I am an American.

I have a Constitutional right to equal justice. When I commit a crime, I will be judged innocent until proven guilty in a court of law facing my accuser in front of a jury of my piers. I can exercise my right to vote, thereby exercising my freedom of speech to make a difference in my country’s leadership and in keeping our great country free without fear of retribution. I can work my way through college and pursue wisdom and virtue in order to fulfill my dreams and give back to my country. I am an American.

I have a Constitutional right to “freedom of religion”. I can practice the religion of my choice without fear of arrest and persecution. I can speak freely according to my beliefs. I can march peacefully onto the steps of my country’s capital and exercise my right to discourse without retribution. I can demand my public servants do their job according to their oath and promise. I am an American.

This is my foundation. This is my “common thread”. With out the freedom to do these things my very existence, as a nation, as a people, is threatened. It is the very foundation of my country. When my country was founded my unalienable rights were given to me by God. I gave some of those rights to the states. The states gave some of those rights to the federal government. The government works for me. It has never been, nor will it ever be, the other way around. My country was founded for the people, of the people, by the people; Americans. “We the people” is not just a metaphor. I am “the people” of the greatest nation in the history of the world. I am an American.

I am now at a crossroads in my great country. It seems my public servants, my elected “leaders” have decided to start chipping away at my foundation for their own purposes. They have all filled their minds and hearts with greed and hunger for power. They are trying to distort and unravel my common thread. They are trying to misinform and confuse me. But alas, they forget, I am an American. I will make myself informed. I believe in and will uphold my Constitution. I will fight for my country. I will fight for my freedom. I will put them out of their positions. And because of this they must quicken their pace for they know… I am awake. And I am an American.

God Bless America!
