Newborn Baby Clothes

Babies are very cute, cuddly, lovable bundles of joy, and one of the earliest things that most people buy for babies are clothing. Newborn baby clothes can come in many styles, colors, and fabrics, but just because they do, doesn’t mean that any piece of clothing will do. There are a number of important factors that people need to consider when buying clothes for newborns, and these are to ensure the baby’s safety, comfort, and equally important, level of cuteness!

The primary thing that needs to be considered is the kind of fabric used. Fabrics can cause a number of side-effects to a baby, from simple irritation to full blown allergic reactions on the skin and lungs. Cotton is one of the basic, safe fabrics that are used in many pieces of clothing, and is a good choice. In addition, buyers should also see if they can get information on the dyes used on the fabric. Some cheap pieces of baby clothing have dyes that can come off easily, and can even cause allergic reactions when it comes off the clothing and goes in contact with the skin.

Clothing tags can also be a major issue. This is because while clothing can have safe, hypoallergenic fabrics, the tags may not, and these can be irritating and even painful to newborns. The easiest solution is to simply cut out the tags, but this has to be done properly, that is, tags should be removed from the seams, to ensure that no pieces of the tag are left.

Zippers and buttons also need to be considered. Zippers are alright, but only if there are zipper guards underneath them, to make sure the zipper is not in direct contact with the skin, which runs the risk of being caught when zipped incorrectly. Most people will solve the zipper problem by getting clothes with buttons instead. But even buttons can be hazardous. If the buttons are crudely attached, and can easily get loosened, it runs the risk of being swallowed by the baby.

Last is the cost. Expensive clothing may end up easily discarded especially if the baby outgrows them too quickly. So while it might be fashionable to buy expensive baby clothes, and nobody wants to go cheap with their kids, consider the costs when getting clothing!
