What Makes Money and What Doesn’t in Home Business – Let’s Be Real!

I have spent the last few weeks re-evaluating how I run my home-based business in its entirety. This has been quite confronting on a handful levels. Here is what I’m sure many people can learn from some reflection. Ask yourself these two questions and answer honestly!

1. What exactly is it that creates money in my work from home business?

a) The countless list of subscription sites and education platforms that my business is paying a fortune to be a part of? NO!
b) The bursting email inboxes (plural!) that appear to defy deletion? NO!
c) The alluring plans for my next BIG THING? NO!
d) Doodling those plans on my three white boards? NO!
e) NONE OF THE ABOVE. YES!

OK, let’s try that again…

2. Which of these allow me to enjoy a lifetime of freedom and abundance?

a) Attracting my potential clients through focused marketing. YES!
b) Outsourcing that focused marketing. YES!
c) Speaking to home business potential clients who contact me asap. YES
d) Making sure leads have all the information they need. YES
e) Making sure my email marketing follows up for me. YES
f) Looking after myself and my family. YES
g) Planning MORE of above and less of the initial list! YES
h) ALL OF THE ABOVE. YES!!

So as a result of this confronting little exercise, here’s what I’ve enacted:

1. Considered the people I am associating with in my business dealings and connected with more well matched partners considering my goals. Planned a masterminding call with 3 other leaders who I was not masterminding with before… offering this call to our teams of home business builders. A fresh new method and direction in my home business.

2. I have decided to put my marketing back with the hands of another person and focus only on taking to people (including you) and maintaining with my social media stuff because I like it and it really works for my business. For all those of you beginning, you can do this by finding high quality purchased leads by way of a lead vendor. Many frown on this, but this is how I have made nearly all of my money to be honest. And as the money begins to come in, you can actually then focus on either doing all of your own marketing or finding someone to drive traffic to a custom landing page or sales funnel for you.

3. I’ve unsubscribed to even my most favorite subscriptions if they have indirectly been responsible for making me money or I haven’t utilized them in the last two months. (This was really hard… funny the way you don’t miss them once they’re gone though… the same as sending Nana’s old knits to charity. Another person might as otherwise be using them… just not me) I figure I can always re sign and see if the withdrawal is simply too great!

4. I decided to place family first and really work around the kids… so took them out of childcare. Now I’m really baring my soul… almost anyone think I am this amazing working woman, but the facts is, I’ve afforded myself various help with my three young children (aged 2, 3 & 6).. Now I’m ‘going it alone’… so to speak!! I have to be more in integrity and show other mothers that you would be able to run a profitable business from home.

5. Re-instated my every day meditation as it makes a great change to my sense of harmony and keeps me clear headed.

The result has been remarkable already. I have made more money in the last week than in the last couple of months and I am spending half the time doing it… And I’m spending much more time talking to interested people.

I hope this inspires you to take it back to basics and just do what really matters both professionally and individually…
