Zyban® | Claim Your Financial Compensation
Did you, or a loved one, take Zyban (generic: Bupropion) during Pregnancy? You may be entitled to Financial Compensation!
Zyban, also known as Bupropion, Wellbutrin, Voxra, Budeprion or Aplenzin, and formerly known as Amfebutamone, was first approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1985 as an antidepressant under the name Wellbutrin. In 1997, Bupropion was approved by the FDA for use as a Smoking Cessation Aid under the name Zyban.
A new study (May 2010), published in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, reveales that women who use Zyban as an antidepressant or smoking cessation during pregnancy have an increased risk of having a baby with a heart defect.
Researchers found that more than 12,700 infants in the United States, whose mothers were taking Zyban during pregnancy, had more than double the risk of a heart defect known as left outflow defects. The most common type of heart defect according to this study was coarctation of the aorta, a congenital heart defect that involves a narrowing of the aorta, which usually requires surgery.
Types of Birth Defects Linked To Zyban:
- Atrial Septal Defect
- Ventrical Septal Defect
- Pulmonary Stenosis
- Heart Ventricle Outflow Track Defects
- Other Heart Defects or Lung Defects
