Becoming an online article writer is a great way to make a living on a self employed basis. Although I do run a few websites as well, I spend at least half of my time writing articles for my own blogs or for revenue sharing websites and it actually brings in over half of my total income. What I really love about it is the freedom that it gives you, not only to work the hours that you choose but also to work on any project that you choose and spend your time becoming an expert and sharing your knowledge on topics that really interest you. If you would like to make money writing blogs, either as your full time job or for some extra spare cash, here are my top tips for how to make money writing blogs.

1. If you are just starting out as an online writer, then you should also write for revenue sharing sites at least to start off with. It takes a long time to get a new blog established and to start making any really good money from it, but writing articles for established sites can earn you more in the short term and will also give you a place to add links back to your blogs.
2. Try to create blogs on quite specific niche topics. If you have a wide variety of subjects which interest you and that you would like to be able to write about then that is fine – just create a range of blogs!
3. You need to have good content on your blog to suceed, but good content on its own isn’t enough. Later on, when you blog is better established, you can reduce the amount of time you spend on promotion and put all of your effort into writing great posts, but in the early day you should spend at least half of your time if not more building links to promote your site.
