Search the WhitePages and you will find over 300 Donald Goodwin in America. This one is Doctor Goodwin and his full name is Donald W. Goodwin.

Dr. Goodwin unfortunately passed away in Kansas on August 16, 1999. His death was likely a result of heart failure. He was only 67 years old, therefore born in the early years of the Great Depression.

Doctor Goodwin gained his medical knowledge beginning as a student at the University of Kansas where he graduated in 1953. It took him another decade to achieve the status of Medical Doctor. Donald W. Goodwin received his medical degree in 1964 again from the UofK.

Dr Goodwin was a specialist of psychiatry and came to look at hard facts as to what causes mental, social, and physical disease in people and society.  He became an expert on the alcoholic and on alcoholism.

One of his many works was a book called ” All about alcohol and the writer ”.  Another was simply called ” Alcoholism ”.

In association with another medical writer named Samuel B. Guze, Dr Goodwin co-wrote ” Psychiatric Diagnosis ” which to some medical practitioners and students of psychiatry offers a concise and factual, as opposed to trivial, view of the natural history of psychiatric disorders.

Dr Guze left a written reflection on the life of his friend and colleage in a great obituary of Doctor Goodwin ( DW Goodwin MD ) on a site called JAMA which is the Journal of the American Medical Association.
