LED Lights Are The Future

Energy consumption has become an issue of international concern in the last few years. The world is facing a new enemy in the form of global warming and climate change. There is no doubt that globalisation and technology have played a major chunk in making climate change a big threat to mankind. Hence, it is now our responsibility to be more aware about the environment and contribute to reduction in emissions and to saving the forest cover. Most of the energy experts from all over the word are urging people and countries to increase the use of LED lights. Here are some aspects that make LED lights the future of mankind.

Requires very little energy

One of the highlights of LED lights is the fact that it requires less amount of energy. However, this does not affect the performance of these lights. Traditionally, incandescent bulbs and tubes have been the order of the day in most of the households. One of the prime reasons why many people prefer incandescent bulbs is mainly due to the fact that it provides a bright light and is inexpensive. Unfortunately, many people have a belief that because LED lights require less energy to function, they do not offer a bright light and hence the visibility could well be an issue. This however, is far from being the reality. LED lights are as efficient as the bulbs in terms of light output they provide. However, these lights consume as much as 80% lesser energy as compared to the incandescent bulbs for the same amount of light they provide.

Longer reliability and durability

A normal bulb would probably last for about 6-8 months. However, this is not the case with LED lights which seem to last for an eternity. A good quality LED would certainly serve you for a period of about 4-5 years. Compared to the life of an ordinary lamp which could range from 100 to 1000 hours, LEDs have an estimated lifespan of 100000 hours under ideal operating conditions. Hence, buying a fixture with LED is more like an investment. Study also reveals that the overall functionality and efficiency of LED is far better as compared to that of the normal bulbs. In case of normal bulbs, you may often come across a situation where the bulb simply blows off due to over usage or voltage fluctuations. However, this is not the case with LED lights.

Helps control Global Warming

The usage of incandescent bulbs has been one of the aspects that have led to the increase in global warming. This is mainly due to the fact that these bulbs require a lot of energy to function, which in turn means that a lot of energy has to be generated to feed these power hungry devices. Unfortunately, most of the world still depends on coal to generate energy. Burning of coal at such a high rate has definitely played a major role in noxious emissions and in making Global Warming a matter of concern. Hence, by switching to LED lights we would ensure that less amount of energy needs to be generated and hence a lot of coal would not be required.

At one time LEDs were very low power devices emitting light only in a narrow angle. However, today we have LED lights that have wattages of 20, 40 and 60 with a broad spectrum white light output and a wide angle of diffusion. In fact LEDs have advanced to a degree where they are replacing compact fluorescent tubes with a brighter light output and a longer life and are available with cool white light output and warm white light output. Another benefit over incandescent lamps is their low heat generation. LEDs could save up to 80% of energy.

All these aspects certainly indicate that LED lights are surely the future of mankind.
