3 Often Seen Marketing & Business Mistakes That Will Kill Profits

We all know the failure rate for individual online marketers is fairly high. Only about 20% of all new businesses in the US survive more than a few years. It is impossible to know all the individual reasons why so many people fail at internet marketing. But if there was any one single biggest reason for failure, it would be making errors and miscalculation of all types. Frequently people are wrong when they come to the online business table in the first place. But it doesn’t matter why the mistakes are made – the only thing that matters is they are made and can produce devastating results.

Possibly most people will naturally think that giving customers the greatest number of options is a good idea. The tricky thing is that is a normal line of logic – to offer people choices and options so there will be something for everybody. Giving people a range of options usually tends to be a flawed approach if you want to make sales. It is counter-intuitive, but giving people in your sales funnel a great deal of options can backfire. The thing is, it has to do with human nature – in certain situations people have a difficult time with decision making. That can be particularly true with purchasing decisions. They can end up so indecisive that the very common result is nothing is bought!

All of us often assume others think the way we do; and that is why you should not think everyone is cheap just because you may be. We are talking about imagining everybody buys at the cheapest possible price – that is patently untrue. Look all around you, there are cheap, inexpensive, and outrageously priced goods and services in all markets. As you know, many higher listed products have existed for a very long time. The fact that they have existed for so long automatically dispells any myth that all people are cheap. There are many reasons why some people prefer to spend on excellent items. If you have a good to high quality product or service, then understand how to properly market your products/services. It clearly can be done, so maybe study those businesses who do sell more expensive products.

Once in a while you may get an idea for something and perhaps assume just about everyone who sees it will want it. I think most people have experienced that at some time. Marketing history has its reasonable share of examples about products that seemed to be bought by almost everyone. In terms of every person on the planet buying something from one company; we do not think that has happened – yet. The risk of this line of thinking in your own business is it can easily make you complacent and fail to promote or advertise to the extent that you should. It will be so easy for you to wander the path of unrealistic expectations once you have that frame of mind. Not everyone will want to buy from you, or your product or service.
