Snoring is the unpleasant condition at which sufferer makes a noise during the sleep due to obstructed air movement in breath. Snoring in women is common situation that take place because of many causes such as obesity, high blood pressure, over weight, etc. It is necessary to pay attention to this condition otherwise it leads to many personal health problems.
While sleeping, the tissues of the nose and throat get vibrated due to turbulent airflow and give rise to a sound known as snoring. Generally snoring can be found in men as well as women due to many health issues. Sometimes snoring creates soft noise but it disturbs the sleep of other family member when it creates loud noise.
The risk of snoring is more associated with women because many health issues are found in women compared to men such as being over-weight, over eating, stress, etc. Pregnant women has more risk of snoring as the sleeping positions and hormones level changed and weight increased in that time. Sleeping pose
When you sleep on back side, your tongue, chin and additional tissue located under the chin will relax but your airway may feel pressure. Sleep on your left or right sides by putting a cushion between your legs may avoid this situation.
Medicines
Many medicines lead to snoring condition because some medicines support deeper level of sleep and increase the muscles’ relaxation. Therefore tissue vibration is increased and airway becomes small.
Menopause
Sometimes snoring in women occurs due to menopause. Menopause is a situation that comes when muscles of body becomes more relaxed as women get older.
Alcohol
When a person takes alcohol, brain gives slow response as Alcohol is quickly engrossed into the bloodstream. It also supports muscles to give more relaxation than the normal night’s sleep. Throat flaps fall down easily due to extra relaxation of muscles that becomes the reason for snoring.
Nasal obstacle
Back of nose, throat and mouth becomes narrow during the sleep. There are many causes that lead to narrowing but the nasal obstacle is the most common cause. People have to take breath from their mouths when they suffer from nasal obstacle and mouth breathing becomes a reason of tissues’ vibration that ultimately results in snoring.
Smoking
The lining of cavity and throat is annoyed by cigarette smoking and cause swelling. Person feels difficulty to take breath, when her/his throat and nasal linings are inflamed. Nose and throat passages are inflamed through passive smoking. Thus, one should stay away from smoking to prevent snoring.
Benign Snoring
Sometimes, there is no medical reason behind snoring. Uvula and soft palate gets vibrated due to turmoil in upper airway that leads to snoring. Women lose muscle tone in all areas as they get older that’s why palate becomes sensitive to vibration.
Treatment for snoring
Many women do not pay attention to this condition as they think it is very common and there is no need for medical treatment. However, this belief is wrong because snoring may become a reason of heart disease or stroke. Study also says that risk of cardiac complications is 20% more in snoring women than non snoring women. Suitable treatment should be given to sufferer after knowing the reason of snoring. If you have a habit to take a sleeping pill or alcohol then try to avoid this by changing your life style. You should also stay away from smoking and drinking to avoid snoring. Try to sleep on your left or right side instead of back side. Heavy foods specially oily or spicy should be avoided in dinner to minimize the risk of snoring. Snorer should take 2 to 3 sips of olive oil before going to bed as this oil reduces the sound of snoring. Surgery is the last option for snoring treatment that may be suggested by your doctor in serious snoring cases.
