There are many different types of diets out there, and one term that tends to get tossed around a lot without of actual knowledge on what it means. Even the very term “fad” seems to indicate something negative and unhealthy, when honesty it literally just means something that is temporarily popular. When the term “fad diet” is thrown around it often means a weight loss plan that was very popular for a short time and often unhealthy, although that’s not always the case. For example, the Mediterranean Diet could be considered a fad, but it is in fact an extremely healthy long term eating plan.
