Planning a Wonderful Kid’s Birthday Party

It’s that time of the year again when your kid turns a year older. A part of you is happy and excited that your kid is growing up all too well. Another part of you is quite sentimental because it seems like your baby is growing up too fast. All in all, you feel blessed and thankful for every good thing that has happened in the past year. As thanksgiving for that and to look forward for new fantastic things that the new year has in store for your child, you want to throw a birthday celebration party. To have a great birthday bash that both the kids and adults will enjoy, here are some practical tips to keep in mind.

Create a unique theme for the event

You’ve seen all sorts of party themes that have already been overly used and you vow to look for something unique for your child. Instead of going for the usual superhero, cowboy, or outer space theme, look for something that has never been done before, at least within your circle. One example is the mustache theme. Your kid’s guests and their parents will roll with laughter when they find out that they would have to wear a fake mustache or beard going to the party. You can serve milk as beverage so everyone will have a milk mustache. Take photos of the different mustache styles that your guests are able to come up with.

Plan the food and drinks

When planning the menu for your kid’s birthday party, it would be a good idea to divide the menu into two categories: kids and adults. For the adults, you can prepare a buffet table filled with dishes that complement the theme of the party. For example, for a Hawaiian luau, serve tropical fruits and meat kabobs. Now for the kids, prepare packed lunches so they wouldn’t have to fall in line along the buffet table. Go for healthy snacks and desserts that would taste great but also be good for the kids. Create luscious fruit desserts that are packed with nutrients using cream dispensers and cream whippers.

Decorate the party venue

Give the party venue the right ambience. Depending on the theme you’ve chosen, decorate it accordingly. For instance, if you’ve decided to go for an African safari theme, adorn the buffet table with zebra or leopard print cloth. Hang vines all over with monkey stuffed toys swinging on them. Put a large safari sign on the entry door of the venue. Create table centerpieces made of twigs put in mason jars wrapped with animal print paper. There are lots of great ideas and suggestions that you can come up with. Gather suggestions from your family and friends as well.

Think of fun games

A kid’s birthday party won’t be complete without fun and exciting games. Again, it would be nice if the games would complement the theme of the event. If your kid is going to have a car racing themed party, let kids race using boxes turned into racecars. For a pirate themed event, have a scavenger’s hunt that would lead to a treasure box filled with goodies.
