The Nature of Reality

Sorry mate, I’m afraid you can’t debate the notion of gravity. Step off any sizeable edifice and those who perform such tasks will be picking up your pieces for a long time to come. Similarly inertia, another of Sir Issac’s formulations, has is own ordinance. When the brakes of a car are applied you as a passenger involuntarily move forward.  Basically, if nothing acts on perpetual movement, progress continues unimpeded forever. This fact may help to explain the prolonged career of Cliff Richards!

If everybody played the game according to the same rules all the time, harmony would prevail. It’s when individuals’ different realities temporarily want precedence over accepted fact that toys get ejected from prams and babies are discarded with the bath water.

To blot out the horror of today’s existence, imaginary, delusional, fantasies are comprehensively replaced by legions of impressionable folk with their heads firmly buried in the sand. They don’t want irrefutable, factual laws interfering with their notions of subjectivity.

Whatever opiate of choice may be employed, a rosier, if not, a clearer picture of the future is sure to be gleaned.   Never let mere certitude get in the way of worthy fabrication.

To muddy the waters a little there are those who question the idea that reality has a single identifiable meaning. These philosophical types will have you believe that reality is independent of our beliefs. Adopting the label phenomenologist/structuralist, as opposed to realist/objectivist, reality is wholly subjective befitting our personal experience of it. Where exactly common shared experiences fit in isn’t recorded. Do you and I both drown differently because we similarly didn’t heed the lifeguard’s notice?

Reality can get a little illusory when linking it with the virtual stuff. Virtual reality, or VR as us techie types prefer, is a wholly computer simulated environment whereby the real world and a physical presence are located. It is probably safe to assume Sir Issac would have been awfully confused in such a place.

I know my reality and where I need to be – do you?
