If you have no plan in place and your pet does get sprayed it will put your pet into panic mode, and the first thing you are most likely going to do is get it in the house and try to wash the spray off, this is a bad ideas as the spray will stuck to anything that your pet passes.

What you will need to do is get a spray skunk smell removal wash from your vet, and get an area outside were you can put your pet if it has been sprayed. Then if your pet does get sprayed you can take your pet to an area outside and use a wash that has been specifically made for your pet to remove the odour. Once you have done this you will need a repellent, like a spider repellent or a flea repent this will help to discourage the skunk from spraying your pet. The only problem with this is it might discourage the skunk but if your pet decides to aggravate the skunk then it is still most likely going to spray out of danger.

If you run out of a skunk smell removal wash then you can make your own by using liquid soap and benzoyl peroxide. Mix the two together and apply over the digs skin and fur. This will be effective but only if you need it because you have run out of your prescribed wash for your pet.
