Recently, Toyota India make an entry in the small hatchback car segment with the launch of its small car Toyota Etios Liva. With this car Toyota India is all set to give the tough competition to the Maruti India one of the big giant in car manufacturing. At present Maruti India holds a big share of Indian car market and now it seems that Toyota Etios Liva might give tough competition to Maruti. Toyota Etios Liva price in India is Rs 3,99,000 for its base model and rise up to Rs 5,99,000 for its top variant. This initial price tag of Toyota Etios Liva is little less than Maruti Ritz petrol variant and Maruti Swift, it could literally be a threat to the acme of Maruti India. As per the reports in Indian Automobile market Maruti currently holds around 2/3rd of the India Auto Market as Maruti Swift currently has 35% of share in the hatchback car segment, whereas Hyundai i20 take hold of 20% of share of small cars in India.

Around 2.5 million hatchback and compact cars are sold every year in India Auto market. Out of which Maruti managed to sell around 11.32 Lakh units in the financial year of 2011. In order to give tough competition to the Maruti cars in India Toyota has come with a competitive price tag. With this price tag Etios Liva is counted as the most affordable compact hatchback cars in India.

At present the Ford Figo petrol variant is available at price tag of Rs 3.59 lakh and is the only low priced hatchback car. Deputy MD of Toyota India believes that Toyota India will surely sell over 1 lakh sedan Toyota Etios and hatchback Toyota Etios Liva in India by 2012.
