Change management in business – how to make it successful

The manager plays an important role in change management, but the employees are also very important for the success of the process. The manager is the one who must make the change implementation successful, however he/she is not capable of doing this on his/her own. The manager will need the help of the employees and they on the other hand will need his/her guidance, this is why communication is of most importance. A lot of managers have a poor communication level with their employees; this however can be a huge mistake, especially in change management.

The better the communication between the managers and the employees the more efficient the work will be, which will make the results faster and the profit of the company larger. If the managers communicate with their employees correctly then they can better assign their activities and the employees on the other hand can see the final goal they are after and they can change their line of work in the right direction so that the change can be implemented properly. There must be a target that is aimed to be reached from the change management process, the target is crystal clear to the manager, but the employees might not be aware of the final target that will be reached by the change management process. This might leave the employees insecure; it might affect their work in negative way and make them incompetent because of the lack of information. The manager can handle this problem by dividing the final target into many small targets. Then of course the good communication level between him/her and the employees will be the most appropriate way for him/her to explain the need of the targets and thus the employees will be able to do the best they can to contribute to the change management process and finish their tasks and assignments fast and most of all correct. The manager should also be able to convince the employees that the change that is implemented is good for them.

People are often afraid of change, and change management is all about changing the way the company works, or changing the entire direction of the business, this might be stressful for the employees. The manager should explain the need of the change and the benefits that the change implementation will bring to the company, thus the employees will be sure that the change management process is the best solution for the company they work in.

Change management is a long and slow process, it requires a lot of effort from both the manger and the staff of the business organization. Many will try to resist the change and many others will give up in the middle of the process when it takes too long, it is the manager who should motivate the employees to work harder and realize the positive sides that the change will bring to the company. Dividing the entire change management process in small goals, will be the best plan, so that they can be reached fast and step by step the final goal will be reached and the change management process will be successful.
