We have become accustomed to our movie stars having perfect teeth which shine down from the big screen, but it wasn’t always so. Many early Hollywood stars were notorious for having poor dental hygiene which didn’t make the film producers very happy. To counter this, dental procedures were used to brighten up their teeth so they would show up better on film.
From this, comes the more up to date term, the smile makeover. This however, is not a single cosmetic dental procedure but a combination of several, depending on the quality of the teeth. For some this may be no more than a simple teeth whitening procedure; whilst for those with more heavily discoloured teeth, or perhaps teeth that are damaged or chipped, a cosmetic dentist may recommend dental veneers which fit over the prepared surface of the teeth. These give a great smile; however at at $1000 plus per tooth, you would probably need to be a Hollywood star to afford them!
