Many younger people now seem to be very keen on body modification of various kinds. Now, although I’m in my middle ages, I don’t have a problem with it, especially earrings and most other piercings. We all go through a phase of experimenting and I figure that anyone that gets fed up of that can simply remove the piercings and time will heal those up. Tattoos I’m much less convinced about. Sure a small artistic subtly placed one is fine but why do people insist on large visible tattoos .. don’t they realise that they don’t wash off? Imagine if you were stuck with the clothes you wore in your teens .. scary. That said, some tattoos such as those which offer cosmetic improvements such as eyebrow tattoos are fine and make sense, but the others ?? The big grey area for me are the gauges that people place in their ears to stretch the lobe, the largest being the 0 gauge plug .. I’m personally not convinced that if removed, the ear can recover from that although maybe I’m wrong .. all seems a bit scary to me.
