Some years ago, following a major operation, I decided to change jobs and quite by accident was offered a position driving a taxi for a local company.
To be honest, it’s not something I’d ever considered doing and in my mind I had decided it would only be for a short while, to give me time to look for a “proper” job. Four and a half years later, I’m still here and can say it has been one of the most rewarding, not to mention, enlightening experiences of my life.
There are some real benefits to being on the open road. Everyday is different, I never know where I might end up, or for that matter who I will meet. I really like the fact that I’m not stuck in one place all day. It doesn’t feel like a job most of the time. When someone asks me what I do for a living, I just say I drive around all day chatting to people!
Driving for a living? it’s different, but for me a change I’m very glad to have made.
