In “Red River” john Wayne stars as Thomas Dunson, a determined young man who leaves a wagon train and the woman he loves to go and make something of himself. Along with Groot (Walter Brennan) and a boy called Matthew Garth (Mickey Kuhn) they find some land to start their cattle empire. Years later and a lot of hard work and Thomas has his cattle empire, but so big is his empire that it has become a financial burden, so along with the now adult Matthew (Montgomery Clift), Groot and a group of hired cattle hands they heads out on the longest and biggest cattle drive in history. But Thomas’s methods do not go down well with everyone including Matthew who whilst loving the man who raised him finds himself going against him and wrestling the cattle and the men away. Feeling betrayed by the man he raised as his own son Thomas vows to hunt him down and kill bim for being disloyal – Red River Movie Review
